Our Stellar Staff

Myka McGuire

Principal and Intervention Specialist

Hello, my name is Myka McGuire. I graduated from The University of Oklahoma in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in Special Education. I have a State of Texas teaching certificate in both special education and general education. Since 2015 I have been a part of the Bright Star family. I started as a Pre-K teacher and intervention specialist and in 2018 I joined the leadership team as assistant principal and now Principal. With a daughter of my own, I am now more than ever able to understand the importance and value of quality early childhood education on a whole new level. I am so excited to help create a unique learning environment that exceeds the needs of each family we serve at our school!

Where I’m From: Coppell, Texas

My Why: I had an amazing early childhood education experience. I can go back to my preschool and see not only the faces of teachers who once taught me, but also those of their children working in the center and their grandchildren enrolled in the program. I love everything that comes with education. I always have. I was the kid who came home religiously and did my homework without being told, secretly volunteered tutoring at the local library, and eventually helped create a peer editing group in my middle schools to assist kids with failing English grades. I love children, I love teaching, I love curriculum, and I want to be the reason another child grows up to be a teacher, preschool director, or even owner (my end goal!), just the way Mr. Craig and Ms. Kathy at Pierce Private Preschool inspired me.
Where I’m Going: I hope to have a school of my own someday!

Stephanie Lampi

Assistant Principal

Hello All, I am originally from California but moved to Texas in high school.  After high school, I decided to pursue my first interest and received my bachelor’s in business. Shortly after, I had the opportunity to meet new people and experience new cultures throughout the United States and across the world. While living in Japan, I had the chance to work at an elementary school, and that is where my interest of changing the lives of children began. After having my son, it helped me realize the unique role a caregiver plays in a child’s life. When I moved back to Texas, in 2016 I joined the Bright Star Team to be alongside my son’s early childhood education. I have had the opportunity to work as a flex teacher in every room throughout Bright Star and to be a part of our School Age team for 2 years. The more time I spent with the all the children and building connections with them, it encouraged me to do more. I decided to go back to school to obtain my master’s in education. I feel these experiences have helped prepare me for the role as Assistant Principal, and I am excited to continue to grow and flourish alongside the children.

My Why: Where I’m From: Orange, California

My Why: I know it sounds cliché, but I truly love children. There are so many children in the world and if I could make a difference in just one of their lives, I will have done my job. Creating a safe place for children to play, learn, and grow is something I know I will always be passionate about. My goal is to continue to develop my skills and education in this field. As a picky mom who took finding the right place for my own child very seriously, I am dedicated to partnering with parents throughout our school to ensure we are providing the best possible care and teaching. At the end of the day, I want our families to have a sense of trust in our program.

Where I’m Going: I hope to someday be the principal of an elementary school!

Stacy Hale

Administrative Assistant

Hello Bright Star Families! As a member of the Bright Star team since 2010, I have had the privilege of watching this program grow and evolve into an amazing school. In 2006, I graduated from the University of Texas with a B.A. Degree in Public Relations and Communications and a minor in Business. After teaching Preschool and Pre-K for over five years, I was eager to continue growing as an educator and in 2015 I took on the role of Staff Coordinator, and Administrative Assistant. I have truly enjoyed the opportunity to be hands-on in every classroom and work individually with the teachers. I am grateful for the fun learning opportunities both my daughter and son have had while enrolled in the program and I look forward to making your child’s Bright Star experience both fun and educational!

Where I’m From: Cedar Park, Texas
My Why: I want to unify and maintain a passionate, eager-to-learn and diverse staff.  To motivate and encourage staff to remember WHY they are ultimately in this field and provide the tools and support for them to be successful. One of my biggest advantages of being a successful mentor and leader, is having taught in the classroom for several years. I want to continue to be relatable and easy for others to communicate with openly. I feel most successful when others trust me, confide in me and look to me for guidance and honesty.
Where I’m Going: I hope to someday pursue my love of photography on a professional level!

Emily Noyes

Curriculum Coordinator

My name is Emily Noyes and I joined the Bright Star Team in 2014. After receiving my bachelor’s degree in elementary education in 2008, from The University of Texas, I pursued a career as a Pre-K teacher. Although I have been teaching since 2011 and absolutely love this age group, in 2015 I took on the role as Bright Star’s Curriculum Coordinator. Through the implementation of Handwriting Without Tears, Frog Street and Conscious Discipline, my goal is to make sure our STAR curriculum not only meets but exceeds Texas guidelines. I want every child who graduates from our program to be kindergarten ready! As a mother of two, Hello All, I am originally from California but moved to Texas in high school.  After high school, I decided to pursue my first interest and received my bachelor’s in business. Shortly after I had the opportunity to meet new people and experience new cultures throughout the United States and across the world. While living in Japan, I had the chance to work at an elementary school, and that is where my interest of changing the lives of children began. After having my son, it helped me realize the unique role a caregiver plays in a child’s life. I decided to go back to school to obtain my master’s in education. I feel these experiences have helped prepare me for the role as Assistant Principal, and I am excited to continue to grow and flourish alongside the children.

I love overseeing what my children are learning.

Where I’m From: Grand Prairie, Texas

My Why: When I had my son, I realized I wanted to be actively involved in his education. Therefore, I was thrilled when offered the opportunity to be responsible for the curriculum at Bright Star. Taking over curriculum was a natural step for me because I love using my creative mind and writing lesson plans. This also meant that when my daughter was born, I already had a hand in her education too. Staying connected with the education of my two children and making sure all children are successful is my top priority. I hope to continue my own growth and education so that I can help both teachers and students thrive together.

Where I am Going: I aspire to someday create my own curriculum!

Kirstin Sahagun

Marketing Director/Licensing Specialist

My name is Kirstin Sahagun, and I am the Licensing Specialist/School-Age Coordinator here at Bright Star Academy. I moved to the Austin area in 2000 and have yet to regret it! I had always worked in marketing, but when it came time to put my girls in childcare, I couldn’t imagine leaving them for 8+ hours a day. This led me to begin my journey into childcare, and eventually in 2016, to find my place at Bright Star! I have done everything under the sun from teaching in Early Preschool, to flexing, to ultimately coordinating our School-Age and Summer Programs. I am proud to now also be a part of our Leadership team and to not only make sure our school is safe, but that we are a fun and exciting part of our community!

Where I Am From: Cypress, Texas
My Why: I’m here to be the teacher that kids look back on their childhood and remember. I’m here for the parents to know that their child is not only safe, but also having an incredible time while in my care. There is no better feeling than when you have one of your students run up to you outside of school and give you the biggest hug and to say thank you for an amazing summer. For me, it’s moments like this, that make it more than a “job” for me. I love getting to be involved in special events, community outings, field trips, and building memories with the kids that last a lifetime. The Confucius quote, “Choose a job you love, and you’ll never have to work a day in your life” sums this up for me. This is more than a job, this it’s so much fun.
Where I’m Going: To travel the world and give back to the children of other countries!
